Amarnath Yatra Continues After The Terror Attack In J&K

a day after 7 pilgrims were killed in Jammu and Kashmir’s anantnag district. A fresh batch of yatres Tuesday embarked for the holy shrine of amarnath. Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti called an emergency meeting of a cabinet to review the security situation across the valley. Meanwhile the oppositions have attacked the Modi government calling it a security lapse.

undeterred by the attack on amarnath pilgrims hundreds of devotees on Tuesday set off for the cave shrine amid increased security. seven pilgrims were killed and others were injured in a terrorist attack in Kashmir’s anantnag district on Monday night. In the wake of the attack security has been beefed up along all routes leading to an anantnag district An investigation into the attack is underway made.

Terror Attack on Kasmir is not just an attack of particular section but on the economy of Kashmir. Any reduction in number of pilgrims will adversely affect local economy. Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti also held an emergency meeting to review the security situation across the state. the state government has announced 6 lakhs rupees compensation for the kin of those killed and 2 lakhs rupees for the injured.

Home Minister Rajnath Singh also held a security review meeting at his residence in Delhi. later National Security Advisor Ajit Doval briefed Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the situation in Kashmir.

18 opposition parties passed a resolution condemning the terror attack. they asked the government to introspect the reasons for the security failure despite advanced information.

Opposition leader Ghulam Nabi Azad Said, “the government of India needs to in prospect as to why despite advanced intelligence inputs was there a failure to prevent this attack”.

Meanwhile the bodies of the seven Amarnath pilgrims killed in the attack were brought to Gujarat’s Surat Airport along with 17 injured people. Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay rouhani has announced an escalation of 10 lakh rupees for the families of the deceased and 2 lakh rupees for the injured.

Various political parties also called for a shutdown across the valley in view of the terror attack. Army chief General bipin Rawat arrived in Kashmir to review the security situation.
